History

The African American Intellectual History Society (AAIHS) is an independent scholarly organization that aims to foster dialogue about researching, writing, and teaching black thought and culture. AAIHS originally began as a blog founded by Christopher Cameron in early 2014. Cameron founded the AAIHS blog to “provide a space for scholars in disparate fields to discuss the many aspects of teaching and researching Black intellectual history.” Despite a rough start, Cameron was able to bring together a diverse group of scholars who agreed to contribute monthly pieces to the blog. By December 2014, the blog included a roster of nearly twenty regular contributors. In 2015, we incorporated as a 501 (c)(3) educational non-profit organization with Chris Cameron as founding president, Keisha N. Blain as founding secretary, and Ashley D. Farmer as founding treasurer. Today AAIHS is one of the leading scholarly organizations in the United States. We support the research of scholars in the field through an array of fellowships, awards, and prizes, including the Pauli Murray Book Prize and the C.L.R. James Research Fellowships. We publish the popular blog Black Perspectives, the leading online platform for public scholarship on global Black thought, history, and culture.

To stimulate interest in, promote the study of, and facilitate research and publication in rural and agricultural history.

AASLH provides leadership and resources to help the history community thrive and make the past more meaningful to all people.

Founded in 1919, the American Catholic Historical Association sponsors Spring and Winter academic meetings, encourages new scholarship through research and travel grants, recognizes yearly achievements with prizes and awards, and celebrates the ACHA's long-standing history of scholar-teachers.

The American Historical Association is the oldest professional association of historians in the United States and the largest such organization in the world. Founded in 1884, the AHA works to protect academic freedom, develop professional standards, and support scholarship and innovative teaching

The Berkshire Conference of Women Historians is a non-profit organization incorporated in the State of Maryland. It exists solely for the promotion of scholarship and to support the activities of women in the historical profession. All contributors receive an official tax receipt issued by the Treasurer as part of our tax exempt, non-profit IRS designation as a 501c3 organization.

To express a common professional interest in central European history, to encourage scholarship and interest therein, to represent such scholarly interest in relation to other organizations and to further collaboration with scholars and institutions abroad having similar interests.

To advance knowledge about the history of East Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia through teaching, research, and public service. CAH represents the interests of Asian history in all forums where historical topics and panels are being selected.
