There are many uses for screencasting (recording a video of your computer’s screen) in a school setting. You can make screencasts to show your students how an app, website, or new piece of software works. You can flip that idea around and have your students make screencasts for the same purpose. In fact, that’s a great way to get students to practice giving clear instruction.

Flipped learning is a pedagogical approach in which the conventional notion of classroom-based learning is inverted, so that students are introduced to the learning material before class, with classroom time then being used to deepen understanding through discussion with peers and problem-solving activities facilitated by teachers.

The Flipped Learning Global Initiative (FLGI), is a worldwide coalition of educators, researchers, technologists, professional development providers and education leaders who are committed to flipped learning. The Flipped Learning Global Initiative, (FLGI), was created to support the rapidly expanding adoption of flipped learning all over the world, including China, Taiwan, Spain, UAE, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Italy, Korea, Argentina, Iceland, Sweden, India and the United States. FLGI aims to fill the growing global need for collaboration across borders in three domains: research curation and distribution, evolving best practices in flipped learning, and technology selection and implementation.
