This guide will introduce the African American Collection at the Kistler Library.

About Yvonne Chism-Peace '66

Born in Philadelphia, Yvonne Chism attended Rosemont College from 1962 - 1966 on a Martin de Porres Foundation Scholarship, majoring in English and Literature. During her college summers, she was the first Black student to model clothes at two of Philadelphia's famous department stores: Gimbel's and Strawbridge & Clothier. She was editor of the college's yearbook, The Cornelian, in 1966. Yvonne Chism-Peace was poetry editor for Ms. magazine from 1974 - 1987. She has published many other poems and several books, including 4 in the Iwilla series.
